Pirfenidone is used to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a serious lung disease that causes scarring in the lungs.
Pirvac 200mg Tablet (Pirfenidone) is thought to work by reducing inflammation and fibrosis in the lungs. It is not fully understood how it works, but it may inhibit the production of certain substances that contribute to lung scarring.
Store Pirfenidone at room temperature, between 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C). Keep it in its original container, tightly closed, and out of reach of children and pets.
The dosage of Pirfenidone will be determined by your doctor based on your individual needs.
It is typically taken three times a day with food.
You should swallow the capsules whole, do not crush, chew, or break them.
The most common side effects of Pirfenidone include:
Nausea
Diarrhea
Loss of appetite
Dizziness
Rash
Fatigue
Headache
Joint pain
Liver problems (rare)
Increased risk of skin cancer (rare)
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Pirfenidone, as it can increase the risk of side effects.
