Mefenamic acid inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, reducing the production of prostaglandins, which are responsible for pain and inflammation. Paracetamol's exact mechanism is not fully understood, but it is believed to reduce fever by acting on the hypothalamus and reducing pain by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system.
