Metpure Xl 50mg Tab (S-Metoprolol) is a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. This means it selectively blocks the effects of adrenaline (epinephrine) and noradrenaline (norepinephrine) on the beta-1 receptors primarily located in the heart. This leads to decreased heart rate, reduced contractility (force of heart contractions), and lower blood pressure.
