A dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (dpp-4) inhibitor that helps the body release more insulin when needed and reduces the production of excess glucose.
A biguanide that lowers blood glucose levels by decreasing glucose production in the liver and improving insulin sensitivity.
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly when metformin alone is insufficient to control blood sugar levels.
Sitagliptin works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which normally breaks down incretins (hormones that stimulate insulin release). By inhibiting DPP-4, sitagliptin increases incretin levels, leading to improved glucose control. Metformin works by reducing glucose production in the liver, increasing insulin sensitivity in muscle tissue, and decreasing glucose absorption in the gut. The combination provides a synergistic effect on blood glucose management.
Store at room temperature, below 30°C (86°F), in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
